Distilling Over 200 Years of Tennessee Tradition
Known for our heritage and focus on innovation, we hand forge our spirits using stone-ground grains and fresh mountain water. With a robust line of moonshine flavors, including Oatmeal Cookie, Chocolate, Coffee and Bananas Foster, we have something for everyone. But, we aren’t just moonshine. Our other spirit offerings include cream liqueurs, bourbon whiskey, gin, rum and much more.
Our name, Old Forge, was inspired by the iron forge that sat on the grounds and built a community. The Old Mill, built in 1830, is still in continuous operation today. We continue that heritage by stone grinding our own quality grains where they once did, combining old-fashioned methods of the 18th century settlers with the modern-day know-how of our Head Distiller.
Visitors to our distillery can experience a variety of different spirits and flavors. Keeping true to the area and its history, we draw inspiration for our flavored moonshines, like Chocolate, French Toast, Coffee and Peach, from the nearby Old Mill Kitchens. Many of the cream liqueur flavors, like Vanilla Ice Cream, Chocolate Coconut, Peanut Butter Cream and Oranges and Cream, are derived from ice cream flavors featured in the Old Mill Creamery.
Old Forge Distillery
Water and grains are the essential components of making great whiskey. Our founders settled here for both the water source and the land to build a mill for grinding grains, laying the foundation for crafting Old Forge spirits today.
We continue that heritage by stone grinding our own quality grains where they once did, combining old-fashioned methods of the settlers with the modern-day know-how of our head distiller, Keener Shanton.
The Old Mill
One of the oldest continuously operating mills in the country, The Old Mill became a fixture on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. It is one of the most widely photographed mills in the USA. The mill was essential to everyday life for the settlers and became a landmark for Pigeon Forge.
Today, the giant water wheel still harnesses the flow of the Little Pigeon River to power a gristmill. The freshly ground grains are used to create the hand forged spirits crafted at Old Forge Distillery. For more information on the Old Mill, please visit old-mill.com.
